There are two key success ingredients that will help you achieve whatever you want. These ingredients are action and perseverance.
You may know the secret to manifesting all your desires, what it takes to lose weight or improve your financial life. However, it’s not enough, you have to act upon your knowledge and be persistent.
Some secrets to happiness and success are so simple that most people expect to see great changes in their lives within days and when they don’t, they give up and go back to their old habits.
They simply do not persevere. It’s a pity because success is in that extra step they will never take.
Nothing happens overnight, and success doesn’t generally come overnight, unless you are a genius. And let me tell you that the most successful people in this world are not geniuses; they had to overcome all sorts of problems to achieve their dreams. And yes it takes time to succeed. One week, one month, six month, one year, it’s irrelevant if you allow yourself to enjoy and learn from the journey. When difficulties set us back, it is essential to keep sight of our dreams, and not to become disillusioned. It is essential to remember the reason why we committed to achieving our goals, why it’s so important to us.
These humble thoughts come from a born procrastinator. I started ten thousand things and achieved so few. I was talented but talent is not sufficient. It took me years to understand this simple lesson of life. Nevertheless, one day I started acting upon my knowledge and committed myself to:
- Achieve my dreams whatever it takes
- Allow myself to take time to achieve my goals
- Accept success and failure as gifts for learning
- Do 2 things everyday to achieve a specific goal
In the last 5 years, I achieved more dreams than through my entire life. If a born procrastinator can do it, you can surely do it too!

Great post Steve,
The hardest part is allowing yourself to accept failure as part of the journey, at least it was for me. I also have had many ideas that never went anywhere because I simply talked myself out of it and gave up to early. Never give up!

Hello Jeff,
And what if we could slightly modify the meaning of the word “failure” as “A creative way not to obtain what we want”? Would it be easier to keep on being creative until we succeed?
Thank Jeff for your comment, I appreciate.
Hey Steve,
I agree action and perserverance are key to any worthwile success. I think this more than anything is what proves to the universe that we are dedicated and worthy to recieve what we are setting out for. The best part is when we align our perserverance and action with our true life’s mission the process generally becomes a smooth one and it just feels really good to be in this state of flow. Excellent post!
Hey my friend Baker,
Thank you for mentioning The “Flow”. You’re absolutely right, when action and perseverance are aligned with our life mission, everything becomes natural, smother and our actions meet few or no resistance. It sometimes feels like magic…
What an inspiring post! I, too, am a procrastinator but I’ve found that my blog has helped me to get a lot done because if I say I’m going to ‘do it’ (whatever ‘it’ may be) on my blog I’ll actually do. (Okay, so maybe I don’t always get ‘it’ done exactly when I say I will BUT it does get done) Nothing is a better cattle prod than my desire to stay true to my word.
That being said, I keep saying I’m going to get published…but I always add the caveat of ‘eventually’! The ever elusive ‘eventually’ is like crack cocaine to a procrastinator! HA!
Again, great post! Loved it. And I think I’ll pass it on to some friends who need a little bit of a cattle prod to make them get off their rears!

Hey Avery,
You’re bringing up an interesting point here:
Blogging is a pleasurable activity or passion >> you feel pleasure by doing…
When you affirm publicly that you will do something then you feel obliged to do it, but as it’s a pleasure… I believe the more we walk our path by doing what we’re passionate about, the less we procrastinate.
Thanks a lot for your input, I really appreciate!
